How to convert PNG to JPG and make the file smaller
PNG screenshots and exports can be several megabytes. Saving them as JPG often cuts the size by 70–90%, which makes them easier to email, upload or attach.
Open the toolStep by step
- Open the image tools and choose the Convert tab.
- Drop your PNG files onto the box, choose them, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
- Under Save as, pick JPG and set Quality to around 80–85.
- If the PNG has a transparent background, choose its new color under Background for transparent areas. White suits documents, black suits dark designs.
- Press Convert and check the size change on each result, then press Save or Save all as ZIP.
Good to know
- For text-heavy screenshots, a higher quality such as 90 keeps letters crisp.
- Need to stay under a size limit? Use the Compress tab and type a Target size (KB, optional) instead.
- Keep the PNG if you need transparency later; JPG can't store it.
Is it safe?
Yes. Your PNG files are converted inside your browser, in a sealed area with no internet access. Nothing is uploaded.
