How to compress a photo to 100 KB or 200 KB (for online forms)

Job portals, visa and exam applications often reject photos over 100 KB or 200 KB. Instead of guessing quality settings, type the limit and let the tool find the right size.

Open the tool

Step by step

  1. Open the image tools and stay on the Compress tab.
  2. Add your photo by dropping it on the box, choosing it, or pasting it with Ctrl+V.
  3. Under Target size (KB, optional), type the limit from the form, for example 100. Leave a little room: 95 is safer than exactly 100.
  4. If the form asks for JPG, pick JPG under Save as, then press Convert.
  5. Check the new size shown on the result and press Save.

Good to know

  • If you see "Still above the target at lowest quality. Try a smaller size.", the photo has too many pixels. Shrink it first in the Resize tab (for example a max width of 800 px) and try again.
  • Forms that also set pixel limits, like 600 × 600, can be handled in the Crop & rotate tab by typing the width and height.
  • You can do several photos at once; each one is fitted under the same target.

Is it safe?

Yes. Your photo is compressed inside your browser, in a sealed area with no internet access. It is never uploaded, and GPS data is removed when you save.
